On May 19, 2025, The British University in Egypt hosted the workshop "Sustainable Manufacturing Master's: Bridging Academia & Industry" as part of the SPARK initiative. This event brought together key stakeholders from academia and industry to discuss curriculum design, sustainable manufacturing, and postgraduate education challenges.
The workshop featured speeches and panel discussions from experts including Prof. Khamis Essa (UoB), Prof. Yehia Bahei-El-Din (BUE), Prof. Mohamed Abdelaziz (UFE/CANEX), and representatives from the British Council.
Outputs
SPARK Project Objectives:
- 1. Joint MSc Design: Curriculum integrating AM, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
- 2. UK–Egypt Digital AM Hub: Connecting academia and industry with learning resources and live sessions.
- 3. Knowledge Exchange: Thematic workshops and collaborative challenges to foster innovation.
- 4. Human Capacity Building: Training engineers and researchers for sustainable manufacturing leadership.
Upon project completion, SPARK will deliver a validated MSc, a functioning digital platform, and a formal partnership structure recognized in both countries. These efforts aim to build a talent pipeline that drives sustainability and innovation across industries.
